BERLIN, 22 September 2026 — The Becanex PIEX Bedrocan® 78 % THC extract can now be ordered by pharmacies in Germany. Shipments begin on 28 September 2026. For the first time, the most prescribed Bedrocan® cannabis flower is available as a plant-identical extract for individual compounding — with the same consistent quality that has been trusted from the Bedrocan® flower for more than 20 years.

The extract

The extract is the plant-identical fingerprint of the natural cannabinoid and terpene profile of the original Bedrocan® flower — enabled by Becanex's proprietary extraction process. It is manufactured in Berlin-Adlershof under EU GMP and complies with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia for herbal extracts (Extracta monograph), in combination with the analytical requirements for cannabinoids. The extract has a documented, reproducible composition.

A changing supply environment

The product enters a changing supply environment: with the GKV Contribution Rate Stabilisation Act (GKV-Beitragssatzstabilisierungsgesetz), passed by the German Bundestag on 10 July 2026, dried cannabis flower is removed from the statutory health insurance benefit catalogue (Section 31 (6) SGB V).

The extract enables physicians and pharmacies to continue therapy with the familiar Bedrocan® genetics under the new regulatory framework.

Versatility and modular system

The extract has been developed for incorporation into patient-specific preparations — oral solutions, capsules, suppositories, topical dosage forms. Particularly relevant is vaporisation as an inhaled therapy option. Within the Becanex modular system, the Becanex PIEX Bedrocan® 78 % THC extract can be prescribed on its own or blended in the pharmacy with the Becanex PIEX 3 62 % CBD extract to create individual THC-CBD formulations — including preparations with the THC content of around 22 % familiar from the flower.

A partnership built on a shared standard of quality

The extract is the first product of a long-term collaboration between two specialised companies: Bedrocan, a pioneer in medical cannabis for more than two decades, and Becanex, the Berlin-based specialist for plant-identical extraction. Both partners share the same commitment to precision, standardisation and transparency — from cultivation in EU GMP-certified facilities to extraction in Berlin-Adlershof.

That both companies are bringing a joint product to market today is no coincidence. The first collaboration goes back to 2014, when Becanex co-founder Eral Osmanoglou and Bedrocan founder Tjalling Erkelens developed the first extracts from Bedrocan® flowers on the basis of a scientific licence. The regulatory framework for such a product was missing at the time — today, both companies return to those results and bring them to market.

The European outlook of the extract builds on this foundation. A first international step is the Netherlands — Bedrocan's home market — in preparation together with Bedrocan.
