Becanex launches PIEX 4: a second terpene profile for THC-dominant cannabis therapy
Plant-identical concentrate based on the Pink Kush cultivar extends the existing portfolio – also suitable for inhalation following vaporisation
Berlin, 6 August 2026 – Becanex GmbH is extending its portfolio of plant-identical cannabis concentrates with Becanex PIEX 4 | 75 % THC Rohextrakt. A second terpene profile is now available in the THC-dominant segment. The product is based on the Pink Kush cultivar and complements the existing PIEX 2 | 70 % THC Rohextrakt, as an alternative with a profile of its own.
Plant-identical extraction as a response to the entourage effect
The entourage effect is the reason Becanex extracts plant-identically: cannabinoids and terpenes work in combination. An extract should therefore preserve the profile of the source flower rather than reduce it to the active ingredient. Across the PIEX concentrates, the ratio of THC to total terpene content remains comparable from flower to concentrate.
For therapy, this means the terpene profile becomes a parameter that can be taken into account when selecting the starting material. That presupposes more than one profile being available – and it is precisely this gap that PIEX 4 closes in the high-concentration THC range.
The PIEX 4 profile
At a total terpene content of 4.5 %, five terpenes characterise the profile: α-bisabolol, α-humulene, linalool, β-caryophyllene and nerolidol together account for more than 70 % of the total terpene content. In the scientific literature, this profile is predominantly associated with sedation, inflammatory conditions and pain.
Use in the pharmacy
Like all PIEX concentrates, PIEX 4 forms part of a modular system and can be combined with the other products in the range – for example with PIEX 3 | 62 % CBD Rohextrakt. Cannabinoid and terpene profiles can thus be assembled specifically for patient-specific formulations. Its free-flowing viscosity makes it easier for pharmacies to prepare a wide range of dosage forms: from vaporisation to oily solutions and capsules through to suppositories and topical preparations.
Manufacturing takes place under EU-GMP conditions at the Becanex production facility in Berlin-Adlershof.
